Dr. Palani G Periasamy
Founder & Chairman, PGP Group of Institutions
Dr. Palani G. Periasamy is an accomplished economist, educator, and industrialist with a distinguished global academic and business career. He holds dual Master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Madras and the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in Advanced Micro/Macro Economics from the University of Pittsburgh, USA.
He served as a tenured Professor of Economics and Director of the Graduate School of Management at the University of Baltimore, USA. Recognized for his academic excellence, he was awarded “Outstanding Educator of America” for two consecutive years.
After a successful academic and business career in the U.S., he returned to India to establish the PGP Group. As the Founder and President of PGP Educational & Welfare Society, he has pioneered several educational institutions including engineering, arts and science colleges, schools, and polytechnics. He also serves as Chairman of public companies like Dharani Sugars & Chemicals Ltd. and Dharani Finance Ltd.
Dr. Periasamy has held leadership roles such as President of the South Indian Sugar Manufacturers Association and Vice President of the South Indian Chamber of Commerce. His vision continues to inspire the development of quality education and rural empowerment through the PGP institutions.

Mrs. Visalakshi Periasamy
Mrs. Visalakshi Periasamy, as Vice Chair of the PGP Group, plays a vital role in upholding the governance and strategic objectives of the organization. She supports the Chair and represents them when required, ensuring smooth leadership continuity. She also contributes to strengthening the partnership between the board, management, and team members, helping the Group stay aligned with its vision for educational excellence and community development.

Our Correspondent
Mr. M. Ganapathy, IFS (Rted.,)
Mr. M. Ganapathy, serves as the Correspondent for the PGP Group of Institutions in Namakkal. He is a retired Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, who joined the PGP institutions after his retirement. He works alongside Dr. Palani G. Periyasamy, the Chairman, in managing the educational institutions. Mr. Ganapathy’s role as Correspondent involves overseeing the management and operations of the PGP Group’s various institutions. He is actively involved in nurturing and guiding the institutions and the students.

It gives me immense pleasure to share a brief overview of PGP College of Agricultural Sciences, Namakkal. Established in the year 2013, our institution is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. Since its inception, the college has been committed to excellence in agricultural education, research, and extension.
Our vision is to create a conducive learning environment that nurtures students to acquire meaningful knowledge and develop critical skills in agriculture and allied sciences. We strive to empower our students by offering opportunities to explore, exchange ideas, and gain hands-on experience—shaping them into competent professionals and responsible citizens.
Aligned with our academic pursuits, our mission is to conduct adaptive research and provide efficient extension services to address the challenges faced by farmers and other stakeholders in the region. Through this integrated approach, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of agriculture and rural communities.
